Thanks for the article. I think Israel should be forced by the international community to accept the borders as laid down by the 1947 UN Partition Plan. … I am concerned that the killing of Palestinians by the Israeli military machine is not recognized as terrorism. They are killing people randomly. The Jewish state has killed four to five times as many Palestinians. What is strange is that such butchering is not recognized in the West as terrorism!

Commenting on ‘A hologram of Palestine: the vision of UN resolution 1397’

An essay, nonpareil, written with a quiet passion that seethes at horror and the magnitude of the unrestrained Israeli murderous violence unleashed by the mass killer, Sharon, on a people ill-fed, ill-clothed and ill-equipped to retaliate in like kind. I am not an Israeli, but I am a Jew and I find no kinship with Sharon, his murderous cohorts and all Israelis who do not rise up in horror and shame, and cry out Basta! Not in my name!

I live in the United States. In America, we understand that the Israel has a complete and total monopoly on suffering. If someone were to be so stupid as to imply that the Palestinians suffer equally, they are branded anti-Semitic and told they are in dire need of sensitivity training. I loved your beautifully crafted commentary. …

I am sure that once we accept those numbers as fact, Israel will then convince the White House and the American people that wet streets create rain.

It is obvious that the United States is not against the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, but is against Palestinian resistance to the occupation. It is disconcerting that the US government would take such a stance. If the Palestinians dropped their bombs with F-16s, then would this be considered military action?

Great comments on this “conflict.” Most people in America are not aware of those facts. The mainstream media unfortunately does not publish these important facts. … Israel is becoming a victim, a victim of its own struggle for survival and it proves in a terrible way that there are no countries or populations that are specifically “evil,” but that any nation can be corrupted by the circumstances and throw the ideals and foundations they were built on overboard when they feel threatened.

Rime Allaf’s opinion is typical of one with a one-sided view that refuses to play devil’s advocate or empathize with the other side. … The Israelis, over the course of the past seven or eight years, have bent over backward in their attempt at peace with the Palestinians. This is not my opinion, this is fact. Just ask Ehud Barak, who was voted out of his position because he was being too generous; i.e., resorting to giving up too much in order to attain peace. But is there peace? Of course not. It is against the policy of the Palestinians.

I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments in this article by Rime Allaf. It is up to the Israelis to stop the cycle of violence; it is after all they who illegally occupy the Palestinian homeland, not the other way round.

This is probably the most disgusting article I have ever read. You are justifying the killing of innocent people in Israel because Israel is being forced to kill the leaders of terrorist organizations. The only way there will ever be peace is if the terrorist organizations of Hamas and Islamic Jihad are destroyed. Then the Palestinian people can live in peace, return to their jobs in Israel, and return to normalcy. There is no other way.

I am a South African writing from South Africa and I can assure you that many here notice it when CNN is ready to repeat a 10-minute footage of the bombing of Israelis for two hours, while it only mentioned, in passing, the killing of Palestinian children by Israeli bombs a few days earlier. What is interesting, however, is that the bias has become so glaring and ridiculous that many outside the West are beginning to see through it. Yet, the Arab press must strive to tell the world its own side of the story. And not just in Arabic (because writing only Arabic is like talking to yourself), but also in other international languages so that the unbiased world can better understand the plight of the Palestinians.

Pertinent and wonderful writing! What a shame your paper, with all due respect, does not have the audience of CNN, the IHT, the Times, the Washington Post, etc. They are busy spinning the news in favor of Israel or manufacturing consent for the aggressor against its victims!
